New recording of Boccherini now available!
Cuarteto Casals' new recording of Boccherini is now available for purchase. Already described by the Guardian as 'a reputation-changing disc for Boccherini,' this CD features collaborations with cellist Eckart Runge and guitarist Carles Trepat as well as the seldom-heard string quartet in g minor. Born in Italy, Boccherini spent the greater part of his composing life at the Royal Palace in Madrid where he wrote the famous E major minuet and the 'Night Music from the Streets of Madrid,' both heard on this disc. The 'Fandango' quintet, a perennial favorite for guitar and string quartet includes the surprise addition of castanets and tambourines in its final, eponymous fandango movement.
